Cornucopia Arts & Crafts Festival quickly becoming a West Berkeley Institution!

Berkeley, California – Black Pine Circle School will be playing host to the 3rd Annual Cornucopia West Berkeley Arts & Crafts Festival, Sunday, November 16th, 2008, 10:00am-4:00pm at 2016 7th Street, Berkeley (located one block from the I-80 University Ave. exit).

Cornucopia represents the harvesting of our rich artistic, cultural, and ethnic diversity in our unique Berkeley enclave! West Berkeley’s only arts and crafts festival unites residents, artists, and independent businesses in a celebration of qualities and values that make West Berkeley thrive. Cornucopia brings together a variety of entertainment, art activities, art and food vendors, and residents that represent the abundance of talent and diversity within our neighborhood.

Headlining the afternoon will be Global Gumbo, homegrown bluegrass, rock n’ roll acts and more. All performers promise a high-energy, crowd pleasing performance. The event features festival attractions, including a climbing wall and dunk tank, an eco “Green Zone”, craft vendors, craft activities, and a beer tasting featuring several local microbrews. There’s something for everyone

Aligned with BPC’s annual theme “What’s Your Story?”, attendees can share their oral histories at our recording booth. The purpose of this project is to collect the unique backgrounds and traditions of our school and local community.

“Black Pine Circle School is committed to values-based fundraising – developing and promoting school fundraisers that our community can feel good about supporting,” says Head of School John Carlstroem. “Cornucopia celebrates the values important to BPC, such as community, environmental literacy, social-consciousness, and artistic expression.”

The day will be hosted by the Black Pine Circle School, a small, independent K-8 school with a 30-year history in West Berkeley. Black Pine Circle’s curriculum emphasizes knowledge through discovery, integrated learning, and visual and performing arts. Proceeds from the festival benefit BPC’s Curricular and Financial Aid Programs.

Cornucopia is FREE and open to the public.
